I heard an interesting discussion this morning on a local radio show. They were discussing term limits for Congress. It turns out that Senator Ted Cruz has introduced legislation to impose term limits on Congress for the third time.

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday reintroduced an amendment that would put term limits on members of Congress, saying the rise in “political careerism” is not what the country’s founders intended.

“Today my colleagues and I reintroduced a constitutional amendment to impose #TermLimits on Members of Congress,” the Texas lawmaker tweeted. “The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms.”

Many people who called into the radio show were convinced that this legislation would go nowhere. However, a couple of people called in and talked about another option to make this amendment to the Constitution for limited terms. They described the Convention of States as an avenue.

According to the Convention of States website:

“Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.”

There is currently a SD bill called House Joint Resolution 5001: To apply for a convention of states under Article V of the Constitution of the United States to impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and to limit the terms of office for federal officials and members of Congress. Here is the link to the bill: https://sdlegislature.gov/Session/Bill/21936/211655

Prager U created a simple video about the Convention of States and how it works: How the States Can Save America.

What do you think? Do you think we need to pursue this with our state legislators?

I will do some more research about what is currently happening here in SD. And I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this subject.

Gotta love the Patriots who are STANDING UP and speaking the TRUTH!! See this video of Daniel McCarthy who crashes the Arizona Republican Party meeting. Conservatives are fed up with the elites.

I love it when the woman, trying to gain control over the meeting, says: “You know what people? This is not Republican behavior.”

Darn right! We are not RINOS!

WE STAND UP FOR OUR LIBERTY!!

I went to the website https://conventionofstates.com/ to review information about this topic. Reviewing the map showing the states that have already passed the COS and in the process give a good picture of whether it is a worthy cause. The states that are white and have minimal activity of acknowledging the convention of states are the east and west coast states. What do we know about those states? Hmmm. I believe you know the answer.

What can we do right now to help resolve the chaos in DC? We can stop wearing masks. We can learn the Constitution and put it to memory and we can become informed on the convention of states. Term limits are necessary now and in the future. Let’s take action. https://conventionofstates.com/take_action#leaders
