CNN (Cable News Network) was founded by Ted Turner in 1980. It was the first 24 hour news network. Now it is a world wide global multiplatform news network. Let’s think of a new name for CNN based on the fact it is 24 hour global news. How about the name (Communist News Network)?

This reminds me of the book 1984 written by George Orwell. How does the “Party” control the people in the book 1984? Through Newspeak, surveillance, and………………….state-controlled media and propaganda…………….or we could say, “24 hour global news”. Also the people are controlled via demagoguery, fear, persecution, the manipulation of history and the systematic erosion of facts and truth.

Let’s also discuss Newspeak. Newspeak is a language using simple words designed to diminish the range of thought and was introduced in the book 1984. The underlying logic is the logic of power of words and how they cast spells over things, which leads discouraging rational argument and reducing the desire to resistance.
